Branchage Closing Night Finale Announced

Art & Culture

Branchage Festival 2014 will be going out with a serious bang this year. On Sunday 28th September, St Aubin’s Fort will be illuminated using the very latest 3D Projection Mapping technology to create a magnificent, moving visual experience, all to the soundscape of a specially commissioned, exclusive score to be performed live by the iconic Radiophonic Workshop.

Past Branchage-goers will remember the stunning display that took place at Mont Orgueil back in 2009, using the castle as a canvas for a jaw-dropping, video-led light art spectacular. This year Branchage will be taking this technology to a new level, working with their official AV partners QED with animations by award winning creatives NOVAK to bring St Aubin’s Fort alive with light. This truly unique display will be the first time in history that an islet of this kind has been lit up in this way in its entirety.  QED Productions has been responsible for delivering stunning projection spectaculars for the 2012 Cultural Olympics, London 2013 New Year's Eve Celebrations and Derry-Londonderry City of Culture 2013 as well as a whole host of globally recognisable brand events, but St Aubin's Fort provides its biggest challenge to date.

The Branchage commissioned score will be performed alongside the 3d projection mapping display from 8pm that evening, with iconic Radiophonic Workshop founder Dick Mills at the helm.  You are invited to enjoy the live 30-minute performance from the car park and slipway beside the Yacht Club, with the audio also playing through speakers set up on the seawall towards La Haule slipway. The audio will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Jersey on frequencies 88.8Fm and 1026MW, and streamed live online, making it a truly communal event for the whole island to enjoy.
