Bloomberg Summer Announce Penny Woolcock’s Utopia Installation

Art & Culture

The annual Bloomberg Summer festival is back at the Roundhouse for it's fourth year this August with an innovative installation by Penny Woolcock. The multi-sensory world Utopia was designed to share Woolcock's curiosity of different perspectives within reality, specifically that of the neighbourhood in which the Roundhouse resides.

With the help of Block9 designers who are well-known for creating grand fantasy worlds at Glastonbury, Utopia has captured Woolcock's vision through symbolic representation and soundscapes of personal stories collected from residents across the spectrum. From drug dealers, gang members, former offenders and sex workers to the homeless, the elderly, housewives and university graduates, Utopia explores the way people experience the city and perceive the same public spaces in different ways.

The installation will be accompanied by Camden Beach, which will see the Roundhouse transform into a beach style hang out with music, beach huts, ping pong and more. You can experience Bloomberg Summer from the 4th of August to the 23rd of August and keep your eyes peeled for more programme announcements.
