Prs Foundation And The New Bbc Radiophonic Workshop Launch Awards
The PRS Foundation together with The New BBC Radiophonic Workshop, which has Matthew Herbert as Creative Director, have announced details of their inaugural awards, launching today.
The Oram Awards are named after Daphne Oram, one of the founding members of the original BBC Radiophonic Workshop, who, alongside Delia Derbyshire, Glynis Jones, Jenyth Worsley, Maddalena Fagandini and Elizabeth Parker, played a pivotol role in getting recognition for women who were at the forefront of innovation in audio technology.
The awards will give recognition to women in the industry today who are leading the way in innovation in sound and music technology. There'll be two winners of the accolade who will receive special commendations and a £1,000 PRS Foundation bursery, and six others receiving £500 burseries.
Singer Roisin Murphy, mastering engineer Mandy Parnell will be on the judging panel alongside representatives from The PRS Foundation, The New BBC Radiophonic Workshop and The Daphne Oram Foundation.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 3rd June at the Turner Contemporary in Margate.
