Plastic People To Close For Good

It has emerged that tonight – Friday January 2nd – will be the final time iconic Shoreditch club Plastic People will open it's doors. Speaking to Resident Advisor, club manager Charlotte Kepel was fairly vague on the clubs reasons for closing, saying
"We will not open again in 2015. Plastic People had great runs both on Oxford Street and Curtain Road." She added "A fabulous time was had and it felt right to move on."
Plastic People will be perhaps best remembered for it's excellent soundsystem – they were one of the first small basement clubs to install a Funktion One and many a raver will get misty eyed reminiscing about the heavy bass pressure on show at the long running dubstep and garage institution FFWD>>. Other much loved Plastic People nights have included Co Op, and Floating Points' You're A Melody event.
With the closing months of 2014 seeing a spate of club closures, we can only hope that this sad news from a much loved London venue doesn't set the tone for the new year…
