Mike & Claire Manumission Return To Ibiza Clubland w/ Phantasmagoria

Mike & Claire of the seminal Manumission club are back in Ibiza this summer with Phantasmagoria 

Described as a *A love affair between dance, music and cinema* the 5 events will take place over the month of August, every Friday at Booom! with Craig Richards in residency, an open air cinema and Smokey Tailes.

There'll be "five nights of wild abandon with DJ's Craig Richards, Derrick Carter, Matthew Herbert, Ivan Smagghe & Skream"
Plus 31 Nights of Film – An Open Air Cinematic Experience" with Seth Troxler's Smokey Tails & The Movies curated By Cult figureheads 
Samantha Morton, Howard Marks, Lynne Ramsay, Skin and Seth Troxler  
with Meats, Beats & Cocktails  by SMOKEY TAILS  

The club's visual artist in residency will be  Bafta & Emmy award winning Daffy of The House Of Curves who will "interpret each week's subject 'film' around the subterranean venue every Friday."

The concept and back story is detailed below… we'll leave you to read that:

"On Friday 1st August, at approximately 8:55 p.m while on foot patrol, I was standing in front of 9, Juan Carlos I, Ibiza Town. When I observed a group of cinephiles who had crossed the police line. They were dressed in costume I recognize from classic films now banned by the Bureau of Cultural Excess.  The dwarf wearing a paint respirator was defacing public property. As I approached to apprehend him he disappeared into the crowd. I worked my way through the players, I was able to move invisibly as was assumed my uniform was my costume"

Welcome to the future. The year is 2034. 
The place is PHANTASMAGORIA.  

Summoned by the Dreamcatcher, Mike & Claire Manumission are put on trial by Time Lords for "the crime of what they did not do". They are given one chance to find the Missing Spirit of PHANTASMAGORIA, change the course of history and free the land from the corporate clutches threatening to asphyxiate it.  
  
They set about a coup d'etat through seduction.  
 
In a world devoid of culture, cinephile citizens congregate illegally in an underground  future blues club called SEXUS to indulge in the forbidden fruits of a time gone by. The lines between fantasy and reality blur as our heroes go deep undercover and become part of the moving pictures the citizenry so admire, risking being obliterated by the shadowy characters with whom they share the silver screen or worse still caught in the gaze of the unforgiving corporate watchmen.
 
Beneath chiaroscuro lighting a real life film noir thriller is played out to a sultry soundtrack, interpreted by highly respected DJ's and Producers including the protagonist Craig Richards in residency with guest stars Derrick Carter, Matthew Herbert, Ivan Smagghe & Skream.   With unannounced special guests appearing throughout.  Music programming by Derren Smart of London Electronic.  

The celebration will culminate every Friday night in August only, when PHANTASMAGORIA will be played out live over 8 hours. Booom will be transformed, with the noirish setting of smoke and low-key lighting into a sleazy futuristic blues club. Cinephile customers will come together to relish in their favorite film director's work in a totally immersive audio/visual sensory experience. 

Visual artist 'Daffy', Bafta and Emmy award winning Andrew Daffy – known widely for his work on visual effects projects such as Levi's Odyssey, Bond title sequences, Soulwax's 'Machine' and the Chemical Brother's 'Salmon Dance' – will interpret the subject 'film' through beams of light, on screens and installations around the subterranean venue as the celebration culminates every Friday.
   
This August will see a full 31 nights of open air cinema, with a different curator each week. From esteemed BAFTA and Golden Globe winning and Oscar nominated English actress Samantha Morton, director, producer, and cinematographer Lynne Ramsay, best known for her feature films Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar and We Need To Talk About Kevin, renowned author and former drug smuggler Howard Marks aka 'Mr Nice', Skunk Anansie's Skin, as well as globetrotting DJ, rib connoisseur and founder of Smokey Tails Seth Troxler each candidate will take over a week of cinema.  Full programme will follow next week.

"In order to give a full report I ascertain that further investigation is required.  Now that I have been accepted as one of the tribe I will return next week to continue my investigation. Eventually I will get to the bottom of this, even if it takes the whole month of August, I will get to the bottom of this. Mind freeze photographs to be examined and processed at the station."
