Theres only one place to spend your bank holiday on Friday April 29th at The Leonard Street Royal Wedding Street Party with The Book Club.
Come along and join in the fun at this good ol-fashioned street party and see what the East End REALLY has to offer! Were talking fancy dress, cocktails, bunting and flags; bands, balloons, party games and barbeque. The Book Club is laying on all the fun of the fair as Shoreditch celebrates in the sunshine, with music, shopping, food, entertainment, booze and fun all the things that we love best!
The Leonard Street Royal Wedding Street Party with The Book Club is a free street festival for locals, hipsters, fashionistas, scenesters, monarchists, patriots, flag-wavers, fancy-dressers and party people, young and old. Come together and celebrate the Royal Wedding in the heart of Londons East End. This event is going to break records for the most fun you can have in six and a half hours!
The Book Club presents Chas n Dave tribute act Wilf & Squint bringing their rockney magic to the streets of Shoreditch keeping it East End, keeping it real. And, to keep those faces smiling, weve got East London favourites Brassroots bringing their energetic, louder than life brass band renditions of all your favourite party songs. And one to get you on your feet weve got Londons swing masters Swing Patrol, whose DJs and dancers will have you Lindy-Hop-ing about Shoreditch, dancing until you drop. Swing Patrol will have dancers dotted about in the crowd look out for the dance-offs!
Joining forces with The Book Club are a few Shoreditch favourites Leonard Streets The Griffin is dusting off the ol Joanna and flinging open its doors for the festivities. Pure Evil Gallery never one to stick with tradition is putting on something a little different. Instead of hosting an exhibition of oil painting portraits of the royals that just wouldn’t be their style Pure Evil is showing an exhibition of photographs of a different sort of royalty: luminaries from the UK grime scene. In the basement there will be an exhibition of German Graffiti from MadC.
Theres a vintage fair curated by Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair and Rag&Bow: The Roaming Vintage Store bringing you some of Londons finest and most affordable vintage finds. Get your Barnet ready for the big day with High Roller whether youre after vintage victory rolls or a rockabilly quiff, High Rollers stylists will pretty you up in just 15 minutes!
Plus theres a live outdoor screening of the Royal Wedding complete with party poppers, flags and music to punctuate the highlights, live music from some of Shoreditchs favourite faces, traditional East End fishnchips, a barbeque, Royal Wedding punch with a party kick, booze flowing all day, party games and much more. And, among other visitors its reported that the Pearly Kings and Queens of London will be stopping by for a visit.
The party doesnt stop there stick around at The Book Club from 5pm until 2am for A Right Royal Knees Up Afterparty Shoreditch DJs playing the perfect wedding playlist. Keep an eye out for more details
