Japan Now To Showcase Award Winning Japanese Writers

Art & Culture

Modern Culture in partnership with the Japan foundation are set to present JAPAN NOW, a showcase of award winning writers though a series of events that explore contemporary Japan. The British Library and venues in Bath, Leeds, Manchester and London are all set to take part from 27th– 29th February.

Japanese literature can be traced back to the early 11th century and to what is considered to be the world’s first full-length novel ‘The Tale of Genji’. This has led the way for the likes of such authors such as Yukio Mishima, Junichiro Tanizaki, Yasunari Kawabata and Haruki Murakami.

Many Japanse writers are gaining international recognition, and JAPAN NOW aims to showcase these modern writers at the forefront: Kyoko Yoshida, Takashi Hiraide, Fuminori Nakamura, Soji Shimada and Fuminori Nakamura.
