Art & Culture

Simple Things returns to Bristol for 2014, bringing 60 acts together for 17 hours of music across 12 stages.

The festival kicks off with an opening party at Motion, Bristol on Friday 24th October, featuring a full live show from Caribou -no doubt playing material from his new album – with the main support for the show from Hyperdub artist Jessy Lanza.

The main event takes place the following Saturday, 25th October, set over venues and spaces across the city. Saturday will be headlined by the reformed duo Death From Above 1979, alongside fellow noisey bastards, Glaswegian post-rock titans Mogwai. Other names on the bill for Saturday include Harvey playing under his Wildest Dreams moniker, Liars bringing their increasingly electronic sound, Atlanta garage-rock band Black Lips, and the lippiest grump in music, Zomby.  Elsewhere, Actress will be playing selections off his bleak and bruised fourth album, whilst SOPHIE, probably the most divisive man in dance, and famous for his marmite plundering of K-Pop and EDM will be giving fans a chance to swoon/ haters a chance to shout abuse.

Hyperdub's roster will also be hosting a stage to celebrate 10-years of the label, with boss-man Kode 9, Laurel Halo, Cooly G and Scratcha DVA all present.

Other acts confirmed include :

Rejjie Snow, Amazing Snakeheads, Turbowolf, Dark Sky, Redinho, Happa, Greys, Hidden Orchestra, Damiano von Erckert, Max Graef, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Ron Morelli, Thought Forms, Cooly G, Svengalisghost, God Damn, Lovepark, Cuts, Bad Breeding, The Fauns, Esben & The Witch, Mirel Wagner, Pardon My French, Seven Davis Jr, Oliver Wilde, Futureboogie, Impey, October, Eaux, Menace Beach, The Kelly Twins, Terekke, Eugene Quell, Volte-Face, Scarlet Rasca and Gramrcy.
