Bar A Bar

Art & Culture

Bar A Bar, 133-135 Stoke Newington Road.

Launch Weekend Friday the 4th and Saturday 5th of March.

Free Entry before 12pm

With the migration of East Londons nightlife culture moving away from the over familiar scenes of Shoreditch, Bar A Bar represents the latest incarnation of cultural vibrancy in East London.

Nestled on the coroner of Beatty Rd and Stoke Newington Road, the unassuming basement bar, simply titled, Bar A Bar will play host to some of the most exiting and dynamic club nights and artists this year.

The venue with its honest rough and ready, authentic dive bar look and feel has been given a new lease of life from a management take over with a creative vision for 2011 and beyond.

Like many venues in the area, its heritage is a chequered one. Originating as a Turkish den and then a Jamaican Blues, the essence of this venue remains true to late night reveling and echoes edgy NY night life of the 70s.

Brought to life this year by an independent creative group who have helped shape some of the most prolific club nights around but wish to remain anonymous. They are sticking to what they know best, the winning combination of quality music and a diverse crowd. Bar A Bar will be maintaining its seedy look and feel with a few tweaks such as a new DJ booth set for Vinyl Djs offering a three deck turntable console and rotary mixer, a fully stocked Whisky bar, affordable cocktails and a new Funktion one sound system for audiophiles.

To mark this takeover, Bar A Bar will be throwing two FREE weekend parties with unquestionable international talent.

Friday 4th MARCH: 8.00pm 3.00am

Exclusively flown in from NYC: Brennan Green (China Town Records).

The man behind the new exiting Arthurs Landing project and globally respected will be joined by Toby Tobias (Rekids) and playing live on synths and analogue drum machines Das Volt (Late Night Audio).

Saturday 5th MARCH: 8.00pm 3.00am

The esoteric sounds of SWAYZAK (A 3hr set) and local crew, indescribably good CURIOUS PEOPLE will be in support.

The launch weekend at Bar A Bar will offer a haven for those who want to immerse themselves in quality electronic music away form the commercial norm.

To support Bar A Bar, a new online radio station BAB RADIO will showcase the weekly performances at the venue, including galleries and live clips from past shows and events.
