WE ARE THE SUNSET presents… A BALEARIC GATHERING – a monthly get-together is back Sunday 27th October. This time they have the pleasure of welcoming SOFT ROCKS (ESP Institute), BALERA FM (Slow Motion, Italy) + A VERY SPECIAL GUEST to entertain us with their vinyl selections alongside a live performance from ALMUNIA (Above Machine/Claremont 56)

SOFT ROCKS

Soft Rocks have DJ’ed at clubs, festivals and parties across Europe. A few people seem to be picking up the hint that they don’t just play down tempo weird nonsense and tail feathers have been seen shaking to their heady mix of disco, house, boogie, leftfield jams, reggae and other oddities.

Keep an ear out for four soon to be released ‘Disco Powerplay’ 12″s (on their own Soft Rocks label). Hope we get to hear some of the new tracks in full at the weekend.

BALERA FM (Slow Motion, Italy)

We first heard of Balera FM whilst on festival duties at Electric Elephant back in 2011. Balera FM, otherwise known as Cristiano Feleppa Grimaldi hails from Italy but now resides in New York City. His musical influences are a mix of early Italian cosmic disco producers, cinematic sound-trackers & synth poppers. We’ve been promised a mix of ‘creepy records with bad intentions’. Happy Halloween everyone!

They can’t reveal our special guest but they’ve got a vinyl collection most can only dream of – come along and find out who their mystery mixer is.

And as if that’s not enough we are blessed with a live performance from Italian duo, ALMUNIA. This is the first of many live showcases ‘We Are…’ has planned and we’re looking forward to hearing Leo & Gianluca’s low slung, guitar laden vibes. Anyone who witnessed them play the Claremont 56 boat party in the summer or at Soul Jazz the following day (as they promoted their new album ‘Pulsar’) will agree their sound is pretty good on the ear making them the perfect accompaniment to our guest DJs.
