Joe Armon-Jones – The ‘Altered Currents’ Mix

Six years after his last solo album, Joe Armon-Jones returns with All The Quiet, a two-part project blending jazz with dub production techniques featuring musicians including Nubya Garcia and members of Ezra Collective.
All The Quiet is a two-part project inspired by King Tubby and recorded over four intensive days at Livingstone Studios with musicians including Nubya Garcia and members of Ezra Collective. Armon-Jones then spent months mixing and editing the sessions in his home studio, complete with reel-to-reel machines and spring reverb.
Entirely written, produced and mixed by Armon-Jones on his Aquarii Records label, the album features collaborations with Greentea Peng, Wu Lu, Hak Baker, Asheber and Yazmin Lacey. What emerges is a textured sound that maintains the freedom of jazz improvisation while exploring themes of community and creative resistance through the sonic possibilities of dub.
With all that in mind Armon-Jones has put us together a mixtape inspired by the album.
