There's not many drum machines that have warrented albums, films and bands to be named after them, but then there's not many drum machines like the 808. Unfortunately, buying one of the long deleted little boxes of magic is way beyond the means of most of us mere mortals (not Eyptian Lover though - last year he told us he had 6 of 'em). Luckily, software engineer Vincent Jackson has come along to make our lives that little bit more 808 rich, witha browser based emulator that looks and sounds enough like the real thing to give you hours of booty bass pleasure. Whilst the bass drum could be a little more meaty, the interface is laid out in a classic Roland style, and the snares and rim shots are spot on - give it a play over at http://io808.com/, but prepare to lose hours in the process...
