So this week the article is overshadowed by sadness - the situation in Afghanistan is a mess and one of our own political making.
It’s horrible to think that out there, somewhere, Tony Blair is sat plump in a posh apartment thinking about how to spin an angle for his next memoir. Meanwhile, George Bush is probably perched on the porch of some luxurious house, waiting for his car to collect him for a day of golf down at the clubhouse. What a shit show….
Meanwhile, the guy who is supposed to handle these sort of things is sat on a beach not bothering to pick up the phone. Yes, that would be you Dominic Raab, the same bloke who once described Brits as ‘workshy’ and ‘the worst idlers’…. There’s a whole lot of irony in that.
Elsewhere I’ve been getting pretty jealous of people’s summer holiday pictures - it seems that all those folk who I felt were chancing their luck had the right of it and to be honest Benidorm never looked so good as it does right now. Give me a dodgy tan, a sunbed kebab, a mojito and some flip flops and i’ll be right there.
Anyway, what’s your plans for the weekend? I’m off to play some records at Number 90 shortly - it should be pretty fun so if you like burgers, beer and beats then come join us.
