Sutja’s Metaphysical Circus #20

Music

flames jumping
over my head
love slaves
flooding rivers
yajnopavita
(I never learn)
sva-dharma
(I refuse to learn)
and love takes two
and I want you
autumn green
the land of love
the road of excess
a depraved form
of nonsense

run fast
you stupid piece of
flesh
someday
you’ll want me too

the faster, the better

Harumi- Twice Told Tales Of The Pomegranate Forest

Harumi, the dragonfly hunter! This album was produced by the well-known producer Tom Wilson (Zappa, Velvet Underground, Dylan, etc).
Very little is known about Harumi and the rest of the musicians, but as far as I know, the New York DJ William “Rosko” Mercer (from radio WNEW-FM) speaks alongside him in this song.

  • The Elysian Spring - Lotus

I dunno how I ended up discovering this… but it’s simply beautiful. An album made by pure improvisation that makes you feel as good as I suppose they (Rainer Bertrams on piano, vibraphone and flute, Bruce Krasin on saxophone and flute, Lenny Ezbicki on drums and guitar and Jim Bridges on Guitar and bass) felt while doing it.

  • Osanna & L Bacalov - Milano Calibro 9 - Preludio

An Italian gem made back in 1972, the album was also known as Preludio Tema Variazioni e Canzona. Osanna was psychedelic rock/progressive rock band created by Lino Vairetti, Massimo Guarino, Lello Brandi and Danilo Rusti- ci. Their theatrical staging reminded me a bit of Genesis – which I liked… I think we need more freaks these days. An injection of freaks, please..

  • Deviants - Nothing Man

The whole album is brilliant. This is their debut album, released back in 1967 and distributed via email to the subscribers of some of the under- ground magazines of that time such as OZ and International Times. The singer Mick Farren died during a concert in 2013.

  • Reign Ghost - Mother's Got Troubles 1970

At this point (1970) the band Reign Ghost decided to part ways, but two members Lynda Squires and Bob Bryden kept the name and formed a new band with different members… the result is this album! I love Lynda’s voice on this one.

  • Hollins And Starr - Home ? 1970

An album full of interesting moments, a beautiful blend of styles… “Cry Baby Cry” is also one of my favourites and so “Home?” is. Chuck Hollins and David Starr released Sidewalks Talking in 1970 via Ovation Records. Check the whole thing!

  • Belladonna Of Sadness - 01 Andy Warhol

Have you seen the movie Belladonna Of Sadness? A beautiful trip directed by Eiichi Yamamoto. The soundtrack of the film was made by the japanese pianist and composer Masahiko Satoh.

  • Muslims And Christians

Thanks to the guys of Habibi Funk for sending me this one. Kamal Keila is one of the pioneers of Sudanese Jazz from the early sixties. A Sudanese in- terpretation of Jazz mixed with Funk with a nice touch of Ethiopian music. Kamal recorded this in 1992, but some of the songs were already written in 1970.
