The oven was baking hot and there was a small crowd gathered around the glowing container as the loaf began to rise with prominence. The smell was overwhelming and there was a special atmosphere in the gallery. Soon the marimbanana loaf would be ready to serve up to the finest from across the land - they had travelled to observe and witness the splendour of the ball in all it's might - the food was as much a part of the spectacle as the performance. Dancing would follow late into the evening and the great hall would spring to life...
