The man behind the legendary We Love at Space in Ibiza gives his view on the current state of DJ booking and programming of nights. He also reflects on his glory years at Space, and then how he felt when he saw Space carry on without him.

Mark Broadbent and his wife Sarah were the real brains behind We Love, clocking up an impressive 13 Ibiza seasons from 2001 to 2013. We Love’s lineups were fun, diverse and always attempted to mix superstar performers with underground talent. The night that saw Grace Jones’ one and only performance in Ibiza also helped break the likes of Ivan Smagghe and James Zabiela…. but do nights like this exist any more? Has the power shifted from promoters with musical ideologies to bookers who only care about next week’s ticket sales?
