For the latest edition of Over the Counter we have a debut appearance from the lovely people at Serendeepity Records in Milan; a concept store where 'music, design, art and culture meet' that bases its whole ethos on serendipity, the notion of 'discovering something unexpected while you're searching for something else'.

From post-punk to rave, experimental to exotica, the folks at Serendeepity are an eclectic bunch – and we at R$N are delighted to have them on board, sharing their discoveries with us (click the title of each track to see more on their website).

[Cease & Desist] DIY! – Cult Classics From The Post-Punk Era 1978-82 (Optimo Music)

Optimo Music released the compilation '[Cease & Desist] DIY! (Cult Classics from the Post-Punk Era1978-82)' in late October. This is a compilation of 16 UK 7" singles recorded between 1978 and 1982, compiled by JD Twitch, that showcases the DIY spirit of those times. We love it, as we love the label that, beside lots of great stuff, released Barking Dogs (inhouse project by Nicola Mazzetti and Christian Croce) and Boot & Tax.

Cage Suburbia – Argument #03 (Haunter Records)

This one comes from Milan! Four rave bangers from Haunter Records, the label of our inhouse DJ and producer Daniele Guerrini, also resident at Macao. Ruff cuts to inflame the party.

Varg – Story Of K (Northern Electronics)

Jonas Ronnberg aka Varg with a mini album themed around dominance and glamour. This is the statement of Penthouse Electronics.
After 3 amazing releases on Northern Electronics he came to play at Dude Club for Hormonal Sequence #04 and we had lots fun with him.

Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U.Ahn-Sahm-Buhl – We Are Not The First (RVNG Intl.)

For those who maintain that the more mutable dance music is, the deeper its impact on human evolution, RVNG Intl. presents 'We Are Not The First', an epic conducted and deconstructed by Chicago artist Hieroglyphic Being and the J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Bul. One of the best album of the year – at least for us!

Chaino and his African Percussion Safari – Jungle Echoes (Black Sweat)

Last but not least: JUNGLE ECHOES!
The year is 1959 and Exotica music is in full swing. Beautiful women with banana belts and flower necklaces are gathering serious attention by seducing each and every Average Joe dreaming of sunny holidays on exotic islands populated by colorful birds. Re-pressed by the great Milan-based Black Sweat Records that during these years put out some of the most interesting stuff on library music from the past and the future.
