Okraa – 8 Tracks Of Psychedelia

Music

Sometimes the only way of truly opening up your eyes is by opening your mind to the world of the psychedelic. When there are no more boundaries ahead of you, everything becomes free and easy and you'er able to appreciate every last drop of aural beauty that entres your ears. OKRAA lets his sounds float over from Colombia so that they can hypnotise us in all sorts of new, inspiring ways and we're happy to take his word on all things psychedelic. Accordingly, we asked him to provide us with a selection of 8 Tracks of Psychedelia to really help us explore the realms of magical sounds.

OKRAA's Vultur EP is out on 23rd October via Hot Gem Tunes.

Andy Stott - How It Was

Living in Bogotá is hallucinating. This song sounds to me as an extension of a city that expresses it’s color through noise and distortion. Chaotic, but still colorful, dirty psychedelia. Introspective, but still impossible not to move to the intense, compressed drama and rhythms from this Manchester genius.

  • Lapalux Feat. Kerry Leatham - Without You

Brilliant way to deal with texture and emotion. Breathtaking and quite haunting. Just a very unique atmosphere and perfect vocals. Pretty thick, dense liquid color going on on this one.

  • We're Not Gonna Make It

I got to know Rumpistol on a trip to Copenhagen on 2011. This guy actually blows my mind even more with every release. But this track was my personal favorite for quite a while. Huge inspiration. Danish nostalgia with simple but deep bass line.

  • Zebra (Taken From Forthcoming Album 'R Plus Seven')

Headbanging to a song with absolutely no drum sounds just happens when you listen to this guy. Can’t be human. Warp Records.

  • Bob Moses - Tearing Me Up

Can’t stop feeling unconscious while dancing to this song. Bass can’t get more psychedelic than this. And yes, with Scissor and Thread you just can’t go wrong.

  • Life On Planets - Fork In The Path (David Marston & Dan Izco Remix)

This one hits me hard. Intense. wolf+lamb might be the actual reason I’m way deep into dance culture right now. This brilliant Marston & Izco Remix from Life on Planets sounds like dancing underneath the sea. Unreal.

  • Martyn + Four Tet - Glassbeadgames

The only thing that can sound better than Four Tet is Martyn and Four Tet. Smoky, groovy shit.

  • Iv44 Howling - Shortline - Frank Wiedemann Remix (Shortline Ep)

This is just sounds too shiny to be left out of the list. Try this one on the bike and get lost.
