Influences: We Will Fail

We Will Fail is the experimental techno alias of graphic artist/producer Aleksandra Grünholz, whose new album Dancing is out this Friday. It draws heavily from the power of rave sonics & structures while filtering these influences through a fractured IDM filter. The album caps off a busy year in which Grünholz launched her Refined Productions imprint with a pair of EPs feauturing remixes from the likes of Eomac, M.E.S.H. and Peder Mannerfelt, and also contributed a track to the Houndstooth compilation In Death's Dream Kingdom. For her Influences selections, she has broken down some classic rave tracks in order to explain which elements she found most interesting when creating Dancing. Check it out below.
This track is really awful. One finger melody, obvious drops and pseudo-exotic chants. But it works and was extremely popular when it came up. I was wondering if it’s possible to make experimental electronic track that could work like this trashy dance hit. I tried to use simple melodies and make a similar ‘catharsis moment’ in my track ‘Put Your Hands Up In The Air’. The title is not random of course.
