Youngblood Brass Band - Brooklyn

Sam Warner’s selection:
One of the most iconic brass band tracks ever written by one of the pioneers of the movement. There probably wouldn’t be a Riot Jazz without these guys and they have influenced a lot of the guys on the UK scene.

  • London Elektricity - Just One Second (Feat. Elsa Esmeralda) [Apex Remix]

    Sam Warner’s selection:
A big influence on the Drum n’ Bass aspect of our sound. We have been lucky enough to work with the man himself after he was impressed by our cover version of this tune. We’ll be releasing an EP of hospital records cover tunes very soon.

  • No Bs! Brass Band - 3am Bounce

    Sam Warner’s selection:
Another brass band from the US I’ve been checking out recently. Really great sound.

  • Submotion Orchestra - Thousand Yard Stare

    Sam Warner’s selection:
We have played many a festival with these guys and not only are they legends but their music is amazing! Particularly love this track when it drops.

  • The Salsoul Orchestra - Getaway

    Steve Pycroft’s selection:
I heard this at a club night in Manchester – played by Rich Reason. It was a huge inspiration for the first tune I ever wrote for Riot Jazz Brass Band and continues to inspire my writing. The orchestration and writing for the instruments is perfect.

  • Flux Pavilion - I Can't Stop

    Steve Pycroft’s selection:
The Dubstep scene was at its peak when we started the Riot Jazz club nights. Flux Pavilion’s track ‘I Can’t Stop’ was a big tune that triggered our interest in Dubstep, and how we could incorporate elements of the genre in to our own tunes.

  • Major Lazer - Come On To Me Ft. Sean Paul

    Steve Pycroft’s selection:
This track features a groove that we constantly incorporate in our tunes – the Kuduro beat. This track is also brass heavy (which of course we love) and you just can’t resist dancing to it.

  • Tnght - Higher Ground

    Steve Pycroft’s selection:
We arranged a medley of Hudson Mohawke tunes which featured this tune. It always gets the crowd going wild, and we love playing it. It also inspired a few of our new tunes on ‘Incoming’ – particularly ‘Dem a Sus’.
