8 Tracks: Of Floaty Bubble Songs With Camila Fuchs

Music

Camila Fuchs (meaning fox in German) are the London based experimental electronic duo of Camila de Laborde and Daniel Hermann-Collini (from Mexico and Munich respectively). After pursuing solo endeavours in various projects both Camila and Daniel left their native countries and gravitated towards London due to its vibrant and eclectic attitudes to different cultures and the arts. Meeting whilst studying at Goldsmiths University through a shared belief in the combined importance of aesthetics and music to bridge borders, they began working on music together. Starting as a predominantly laptop based project, the duo soon discovered a love for analogue and modular equipment that saw them deviate from their known track, it would prove to be a decision that founded the notion of 'Singing From Fixed Rung'. Collini brings expertise from an experimental techno and Krautrock scene in his native Germany that provides the foundations for the duos own stylistic ideas. Also pulling from the likes of Aphex Twin, Oneohtrix Point Never, The Knife and Kraftwerk, with the mournful, tender delivery of Camila de Laborde's uniquely introverted and esoteric lyricism takes its cues from the likes of Lhasa de Sela and other South American singer/songwriters. Melonball Bounce (Instrumental) Animated

Taken from the album Manhattan Research Inc. Probably the most known song of this album is Lightworks.
Melonball Bounce was used for a Sprite commercial. If only commercials where that good & fun nowadays.
Good friend introduced us to his work. Thank u!

  • Mort Garson - Baby's Tears Blues

Great discovery, an album made for plants to enhance their well-being and speed up their growth. Again, the whole album is really special.
Special note on the record says: Warm earth music for plants and the people who love them. (record includes plant care remedy chart)

  • Os Mutantes (1968)- 01 Panis Et Circenses

We haven’t really encountered many band as peculiar like Os Mutantes. Our favourite and odd one from the 60s Tropicália movement in Brazil, fusing Brazilian music with psychedelic rock from from the US
Sometimes maybe similar to bands like Broadcast… in their dreamy-like sound.

  • Leila Arab - Lush Dolphins

Leila’s music is like reading a really really good book, makes you wanna follow the full story. Her albums are very visual and take you to very special places.
The whole discography is like nothing else, one of our favourites and most recommended! 🙂

  • Yasuaki Shimizu - Music For Commercials

Another song made for a commercial this time by the Japanese musician Yasuaki Shimizu.
Probably best known for the Kakashi album and besides his solo work, he produced probably one of the most amazing songs in Japanese pop music from the 80s – Uta Kata No Hibi by Mariah

  • Malcolm Cecil - Radiance - Vibrananda

Malcolm Cecil, producer of Stevie Wonder, behind the huge walls of his modular TONTO. . . (“The Original New Timbral Orchestra” : the world’s first and still the largest multitimbral polyphonic analog synthesiser)
Trip of very special sounds, with lots of resonance. Note here, another album worth listening to, similar in sound but less tonal and darker, is the soundtrack of Solaris by Edward Artemiev.
He produced it on another crazy synthesiser called the ANS

  • Maria Minerva - These Days

Something more recent released in 2011 on Not Not Fun. Muffled walls of delays – floating bubbles. Such odd decision making. Amazing album.

  • Agf - Privatebirds

Amazing record, Westernization Completed. Her own narrated experience. Sounds pre Holly Hernden.
Released in AGF Producktion & Orthlorng Musork
