8 Tracks: Go March – Instrumental Sounds From The Belgian Underground

Music

Go March hail from the land of Hergé and Poirot. And René Magritte and Adolphe Sax (him of 'inventing the saxophone' fame). And Jean Claude van Damme. There you go, that's your five famous Belgians.

Their debut album is out 27 Nov, featuring the previously released 'Rise', and new track 'Lighthouse', which combines fizzy electronics with post-rock grandeur. It also has a rather arresting video that you can watch underneath.

For their 8 Tracks feature, Go March have decided to shine a light on some of their fellow Belgian musicians working in the instrumental field. It's a great selection, from spaghetti westerns to 80s fusion. Grab a spoon and dig in.

Find Go March on Facebook, and pre-order the album here.

C. Young - Cindy Supermarket

Project of a young musician named Milan Warmoeskerken. Has a cool retro vibe to it, mellow, kraut-ish. Tunes to dive into.

  • The Germans - Are Animals Different #1 (Single Edit)

Very cool, adventurous band, quite an experience to watch live especially. The rhythm of this song could just go on forever!

  • Statue - The Perfect Storm

Another band of our drummer Antoni. This is a live version of the song from this year’s Pukkelpop festival. The band proves once again that instrumental music isn’t necessarily post-rock anymore.

  • Manngold - Stunde Null (Live Session)

Also a live version. Manngold is another band of our guitar player Philipp with two drummers (more is more!) Again quite some repetition in there as a red thread, but again with a different vibe.

  • Condor Gruppe - Dusty Fingers Single Version

An ode to old Spaghetti Western soundtracks.

  • Stuff. - Skywalker (Live)

Top musicians balancing on the edge of cheesiness, 80s fusion meeting hip-hop, all played live. Impressive to see!

  • Dans Dans - The Sicilian Clan

Great band, not really jazz, not really rock, edgy in their very own way. We love this cover of the Morricone soundtrack!

  • Die Verboten - Dafalganger - Deewee003

We’ve been waiting a long time since this collaboration between the Soulwax boys and Riton was announced a couple of years ago. It was well worth the wait.
