Watch: Trevor Jackson Creates Video Megamix For New On U Sound Comp

Science Fiction Dancehall Classics is the new comp from On U Sound records. Selected by the steady hand of Trevor Jackson, it's a trawl through the wilder reaches of On U's vast 80s back catalogue, highlighting the labels 30 year commitment to fusing dub aesthetics with industrial rhythms, proto techno, African percussion and post punk. To celebrate the release, Jackson has also knocked together a 14 minute megamix, accompanied by a video montage that uses a mixture of hands-on analogue techniques and modern digital technology. The results are as strange, dissonant and alien as the music itself.

“I’ve made the visuals as a tribute to video techniques of the period the tracks come from, the sort of thing I’d see in clubs and gigs at the time." Notes Trevor "It’s perhaps not immediate in a fast 21st century YouTube way, but it totally suits the music. Hopefully people will switch the lights off and zone out to it.”
