Vancouver-based vocalist / composer Ian William Craig is to release new album 'Centres' on 13701, the FatCat imprint which is home to Max Richter, Hauschka and Dustin O’Halloran. Craig is a trained operatic vocalist who combines his voice with analogue synthesizers, reel-to-reel machines, and faulty tape decks, creating unpredictable decay and distressed textures. Using the customised tape decks, Craig creates an 18 deck "cassettes choir", as he explains: “The most common hack is putting attenuators on the heads to keep them from functioning properly, and then running a loop of tape through so the sound builds and builds and spills over." He also plays a series of live dates in the UK in August.

Ian William Craig – Centres is released by 130701 on 8th July 2016 and can be pre-ordered HERE.
