DFA announce the second LP from solo multi-disciplinary artist, Delia Gonzalez, due out on 5th May

This five-track LP follows on from her 2015 release, ‘In Remembrance’, which was a 30-minute piano score, and here with ‘Horse Follows Darkness’ although the piano is a key element of selection with all but the final song using her instrument of choice, it’s a decidedly expansive sounding electronic record that moves elegantly forward.

The LP is named after her 8-year old son’s made up werewolf story, ‘Horse Follows Darkness’ and the album is inspired by the great old American Western film genre and her families move back to the USA from Berlin

Of this move, she says The record is a manifestation of that, and what one creates for themselves under the given circumstances. Coming back to America, I felt like a foreigner and NYC / America felt like the Wild West. Most Westerns from the 1960s to the present have revisionist themes. Many were made by emerging major filmmakers who saw the Western as an opportunity to expand their criticism of American society and values into a new genre.”

The album was recorded with Abe Seiferth, who became an integral part of the recording process and encouraged Delia to experiment with different synthesisers including the Prophet VS, the Korg Poly synth and Roland SH-101. This electronic exploration combined with her very personal, logistical upheaval results in a modern electronic soundtrack for the revisionist Western.

'Horse Follows Darkness' is released on DFA 5th May 2017. Find out more HERE
