Based in Berlin Salto Honduras might be a familiar face to some – this summer see's him dance between various destinations across the city bringing with him great music and fun galore. We use this 'shine a light' series to showcase the best in unsung talent, new faces and those that breathe the life into our great culture. An eclectic selector Salto boasts great taste as he draws upon elements of krautrock, punk, disco, house and techno all within the far reaching focus of the dancefloor and the night.

We invited him to contribute to our series and he does so in fine style picking tracks with a rugged edge and a euphoric climax.

Listen and read the interview below:

Please introduce yourself… Who are you, where are you and what are you?

My name is Salto Honduras, I’m a musician and DJ living in an unknown city called Berlin.

What does your music sound like? Can you draw what you think it sounds like for us (an image from the old internet is acceptable)?

That’s a tough one..I guess my music would look like a postcard from nature. Desert meets mountains that are getting a reflection of the sun and the moon. Wild and warm, that’s the vibe.

Where was the mix recorded?

The mix was recorded on a beautiful sunny day at my studio.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

Quiet surroundings, far from the city. Let the wind guide you.

What should we be wearing?

Whatever you feel comfortable with, maybe clothes are not needed?

What would be your dream setting to record a mix: Location/system/format?

Sunrise, Kilimanjaro Mountain, some wild birds flying above me- singing.. and then I’m pressing PLAY.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

I like all of them a lot, but I guess that my current favorite is Chinaski- Surfin’ Dead.

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

I wouldn’t mind doing 10h b2b with Manfredas. If you ever saw this guy playing, you know why I choose him.

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

When I started it was kind of basic. Now I’m sharing an amazing studio with friends so we have basically everything. The last thing I personally bought was a beautiful 70’s Sonor Drum set- so good!

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

It’s really depends on when and where I’m playing. The opening track could be more atmospheric and vibey whereas with the last track  I want to put a sweet memory in people’s heart.

What were the first and last records you bought?

The first album was Blur- The Best Of, I was like 12-13.
The last album I bought really recently on my trip to Porto is called Almanaque- Defiando Cantigas.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

It would taste like magic food. At first slightly strange but every bite leads to a sweeter taste. And it’s addictive, I’m warning you.

If it was an animal what would it be?

It would be a Puma, no joke.
