Rita Maia Highlights 2012 RSN mix by Theransomnote on Mixcloud
On February 4th the Portuguese-born, London-based DJ and broadcaster presents ‘Sine Of The Times’, her personally-curated debut compilation, which features several exclusives from some of the world’s leading electronic and bass music talents.
All artists featured have inspired Rita, with their tracks or remixes gaining heavy rotation on her hugely popular Saturday night Resonance FM show (also called ‘Sine Of The Times’). In addition to the radio, many of the artists being featured came about from connections Rita made whilst DJing in clubs and festivals around the world. This global nature is reflected in the selection, featuring artists from Japan, Canada, Nigeria, France, Iran, Portugal and, of course, London, the epicentre to which all music featured is linked.
A subtly sublime collection, ‘Sine Of The Times’ represents the deeper end of the spectrum; it offers a perfect current snapshot of this creative purple patch for cerebral, timeless, yet forward thinking sounds. The tracks effortlessly merge a wide range of elements into an inspiring whole, and the album’s large family tree has roots in bass, 2 step, house, Detroit techno, grime, electronica, African rhythms and soul.
