Gamma Intel: The ‘Shine A Light On’ Mix

Music

Amsterdam may be considered the main musical hub in the Netherlands but Rotterdam definitely gives it a run for its money. The port city in the south of the country is the base of independent radio station Operator as well as being home to label and radio shop Pinkman Records who have been responsible for a few of our favourite releases in recent years.

Gamma Intel has been closely affiliated with both institutions, as a resident on Operator and as a label mate for Pinkman with his release Motives & Methods earlier this year. We first caught wind of him via his release for London-based electro imprint Brokntoys, his debut EP in fact, which introduced us to his machine-driven sound; a heady blend of electro, EBM and raw electronics.

We invited him to give us a taste of what Gamma Intel is all about. Buckle up, this one's a barnstormer…

Where was the mix recorded?

In my apartment in Rotterdam.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

Wherever you feel most comfortable, but preferably with your parents around

First two CD players and a shitty mixer, now two turntables and a nice mixer đŸ™‚

Closing track

What were the first and last records you bought?

First one was actually a Pinkman record from Annanan, the last one was a New Beat record

Kapsalon (Rotterdam nightlife cuisine)

If it was an animal what would it be?

An angry flamingo

One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything?

Cutting Room – Slingshot, because of the syncopated snares

Upcoming in the world of Gamma Intel…

DT Camp this weekend, really looking forward to this! Also there is some new upcoming stuff, a remix for Heap on Mechatronica, as well as another EP from myself on a familiar label.

Anything else we need to discuss?

There's some electro music coming out on a very special electro label in 2020… Stay tuned kids…
