Anna Lann: The ‘Monday Is Okay’ Mix

Music

On Monday we like to do things a little differently… After the excess of the weekend it can be nice to ease into the week with something a little more subtle and contained.

This month marks the release of a new EP on Ransom Note Records, one of which we are very proud of. Anna Lann is a multidisciplinary artist, producer, musician and disc jockey who caught our ear upon first listen. Her teasing take on pop music left us intrigued and inspired, it offered something very different amidst a market which can become heavily saturated and repetitive. Latvian born and Tel-Aviv based she is well versed across an artisitic spectrum working as a composer, singer, videographer, visual artist, dancer and beyond. There are no bounds.

'Embodiment', Anna’s first EP on Ransom Note Records, does its utmost to evade description, existing in a state of perpetual motion and terminal formlessness. Over four singular tracks she projects a thrilling blend of techno, experimental electronics and left-field pop music, realised in pristine and often brutal sound design.

As such we invited her to contribute to our mix series, Monday is now okay.

Listen below:

The mix was recorded during a stormy afternoon in exotic Jaffa, under a hovering palm tree.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

'Etherodiophone Romantique' by Chino 'Goia' Sornisi, not only because it's a beautiful piece of music, but also due to the unusual life story of the composer.

My first set up was a …

Now – i play with Pioneer cdj's.

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

The way i see it, they both serve as liminal points, with everything happening in between, so they are equally important.

Hokkaido Black Watermelon.

If it was an animal what would it be?

Turritopsis dohrnii (the immortal jellyfish)

Upcoming in the world of Anna Lann?
