Influences: Syracuse

Music

Syracuse is an ever changing alias, a progressive musical project in the most honest of senses. The project is the brainchild of Antoine Kogut, a saxophonist turned electronic music mogul, his tastes eclectic and sounds progressive. The project has evolved through various stages, originally starting as a seven piece band, Antoine now operates independently under the Syracuse moniker.

Antinote has become the adopted home of the project's releases to date which have featured vigour and elegance in the form of intricate 808's, delicate synthesizers and far reaching soundscapes.

A new era has recently seen Antoine revert to working independently, the next stage of progression may well be very interesting indeed.

Pharoah Sanders - Karma 1969 Full Album

One of my favourite songs, it’s an unclassifiable free soul jazz album where one can contemplate -hear- or find : serenity, madness, harmony, violence and sweetness.

  • Michael Shrieve - Transfer Station Blue (Full Version)

Rhythmic, repetitive, experimental and pop at the same time, this is what I imagined for Syracuse. This American-German album is trippy and mysterious but it is capable of speaking to any and everyone.

  • Virgo - Do You Know Who You Are(Vocal Mix) 1989

This song is simple yet elegant. I imagine random people in a club asking themselves the same question – unable to answer they escape to the dance floor.

  • Stanislas Tohon - Owhaaou!

I found this record in an antique shop near my house for 5 euros. I showed it to one of my best friends and favorite DJ Raphael Top Secret who made an edit with it and played it several times. Now it cost 500 euros on discogs and it’s going to be re-released by Rush hour .

  • Untitled

My girlfriend showed me this song she found it on Youtube last summer. I love it, For me now there are only good memories associated with it. The beach, the sun, good food, love…

  • Patrice Gelsi - Piano Solo: Song For Mccoy Tyner

Patrice Gelsi made a really good and very rare record in the 80’s, Ailleurs…
This is the magic of youtube for me, find a video of him, old and dressed in a white tracksuit paying a tribute to one of the greatest jazzman in history in a piano shop somewhere in France.
