Influences: Sascha Funke

Psychedelic and abstract selections.

Somebody told us the other week that Sascha Funke has been producing music for over twenty years - that's mad. Not because twenty years is an exceptionally long time but because there have been very few who have managed to maintain such relevance and consistency across two decades. With releases on the likes of Kompakt, Endless Flight, Multi Culti, BPitch and Hippie Dance he has punched prominently with innovative style and individuality. Often his music draws upon hypnotic influences, far reaching psychedelia and the abstract - not one to bow to the stereotypes of the 'dance music' genre he delivers time and time again.

We invited him to take us through the music which has helped guide his own humble trajectory through life and sound. He picks music by Zombie Zombie, The Cure, Primal Scream and more.

Karat - Der Blaue Planet.

Karat was one of the most popular pop bands from East Germany which also was successful in West Germany and allowed to perform there. I remember listening all the time to Der Blaue Planet in my early child years. The bassline of that song is great.
