Influences: Kim Ann Foxman

Music

Honesty and integrity go a long way, Kim Ann Foxman knows this better than most. The trick to longevity is not to jump aboard the trend of the moment or the talk of the town but to stay true to a sound in which you believe, value and trust.

Since 2010 Kim Ann Foxman has bubbled just below the surface of the big room. Her music is featured heavily by those who headline festival bills and superclubs the world over yet Kim herself remains committed to the shadowy corners of house music. The foundation of her own record label Firehouse has acted as an output for a sound which is appreciated by both tastemakers and dancefloors alike.

All of the above combined with her respectable talent in the booth makes her arguably one of the most influential women in dance music in this day and age.

The Goonies - "Water Slide Scene"

I always wished i was a Goonie growing up. this movie made me feel like there so many adventures out there for me to be had. Plus Cyndi Lauper is on the soundtrack and she’s awesome too.

  • Shannon - Let The Music Play

One of the most major freestyle records of all time. Hawaii is big on freestyle so i was a major fan growing up and still live for this song.

  • Technotronic - Pump Up The Jam

This song blew my mind when it came out and it still brings me so much joy. I was just 11 at the time. and it was everything to me , i rewinded this tape over and over again and would dance in my bedroom. i still remember that test tone sequence in the beginning as being a whole part of the experience.

  • Tom Tom Club - Genius Of Love

This song would be blasting out of low rider trucks with tinted windows growing up in hawaii , island style. It took me a while to figure out who it was and when i found out i was so excited. one of my fav songs still. i love the whole album.

  • The Future Sound Of London - Pulse State

Future Sound of London was is one of my all time favs. it reminds me of my rave days in SF, which was honestly the most influential time period for me as a DJ and artist.

  • Da Posse Feat Christa Jordan In The Heat Of The Night Acid

This jam is everything i love including acid + such a great vocal hook! a classic that is one of my fav acid tunes.

  • Deee-Lite - "Good Beat"

Deee- Lite in general was a huge inspiration for me and “Good Beat” has to be one of my fav tunes of theirs. Lady Miss Kier was my queen of the rave! i was working at a club in Hawaii when i was in high school growing up, and they came to play a live show and it was such a big deal for us on a remote island. i still have photos from that night . its so cool and trippy that one day i would get to know her and even play some gigs together. I was such a teenage fan girl.

  • Coco Steel & Lovebomb - Feel It

I probably carried this song around in my record bad for the longest amount of time in my DJ career. It’s a very special and important song for me and brings back so many memories. It is really simple, but so effective with it’s perfect ingredients.

  • Herbie Hancock - Rockit

What a synth god genius. I love herbie hancock! His Rockit video is monumental and his live shows were so major! He is an artist that was really innovative and outside the box and really inspiring for me.

  • M|A|R|R|S - Pump Up The Volume

Pump Up The Volume is such a well deserved hit. I remember it being played in Hawaii along side miami bass and freestyle and early electro at school dances, and I was so into it.

  • Kraftwerk - Computer World (Full Album)

Kraftwerk is one of my all time inspirations. its actually the only time I’ve ever waited for an autograph in my life and i still have the signed concert ticket. Computer World is such an amazing album!
