Influences: Bflecha

Music

Arguably one of the most interesting and dynamic elements of musical culture is the variation which exists between artistic interpretation and diversity across country of origin.

BFlecha is one of Spain's most interesting producers at present, however, her name has yet to break through the cracks on British soil. This is probably no bad thing in all honesty, who wants to be British right now anyway? This month marks the release of her new LP, a unique spacious array of sounds and progression. An up and comer and one to watch.

This summer she will appear at Sonar Festival in Barcelona. We caught up with her to talk influences…

BFlecha released her second album "Kwalia" last Friday and is available now.

Starwatcher

Vangelis is one of my favourite composers of all time, this is from the record Antarctica (OST) and also was going to be the soundtrack of the animated film Starwatcher by Moebius, but sadly the project never saw the light of day. Just seeing the short snippet I can make all the film in my mind. Love the Moebius´s universe, I remember reading Arzak, The Gardens of Aedena and The Airtight Garage while I was writing Kwalia, you can find many references in my music.

  • Laurie Anderson Home Of The Brave 1986) Full

She always has been most fresh, spontaneous and genuine artist. I love her music so much, “Home of the Brave” is one of the best live performance that I’ve ever seen.

  • Chris Marker - "A.K." (1985) -1/6

Definitely two of my favorite ones together, this is a documentary about the making of Akira Kurosawa’s Ran, I remember seeing it and blew my mind when AK made paint a field in gold for a specific scene to finally not include it in the final version.

  • Orphée Traverse Le Miroir

Dreaming, mirrors and poetry… He’s one of my main influences in Kwalia, my song Chuang Tzu is all about this movie but with a Galician twist. I actually dreamed the lead melody.

  • Brandy - B Rocka Intro + Lyrics

The “Vocal Bible”, the most inspiring voice ever, her record Full Moon will always be on my top.

  • Kenji Kawai - Cinema Symphony - Ghost In The Shell Ost

A few years ago I showed to my vocal coach the Ghost in the Shell OST because it reminded me of Galician traditional singers Cantareiras, then he mentioned the connection with the Voix Bulgares choirs so all became full circle. I used some of those vocal techniques in a few songs from Kwalia.

  • Monument Valley Ost - The Garden

I remember playing Monument Valley game while I was writing Kwalia, I was hooked to it, … Escher and video games are the perfect match!
