Marco Shuttle – Flauto Synthetico (Spazio Disponibile)

Wow. Seriously. Wow. Donato Dozzy and Neel (the duo who make up Voices From the Lake) set up their Spazio Disponibile imprint recently and right from the off it's clear that this is going to be one of those labels you ignore at your peril. I covered release number two a few weeks back and this next one, courtesy of Marco Shuttle, is everything you'd expect and more. Deep, hypnotic, full-emersion techno with absolutely impeccable sound design and production quality. Mr Shuttle has a long track record of quality, and this release reaffirms this absolutely. Now I just hope my copy arrives in time for the weekend!

Marcellus Pitman/John Cannon – 1044 Coplin (Unirhythm Green)

This delightful 7” has just had a repress and I highly recommend you get on it before they all fly off the shelves. We've got Marcellus on one side with his effortlessly funky, boogie throwback that just makes you want to just push all of the files off your desk and shake your arse right there in the middle of the office. Over on the flip we have John Cannon with “JC's Groove” which is a sultry number that makes you want to skin one up and chong away in front of your colleagues, tripping out to Microsoft Excel. Well it would if smoking that evil stuff didn't make me want to curl up and die. I think you get my point nonetheless.

Various Artists – Local Business EP (Banlieue)

I stumbled across Banlieue a couple of releases back and have been an avid follower ever since. This latest offering is a VA showcasing some very exciting artists indeed including two favourites of mine, Gohan and Tom Dicicco, and some welcome new names to add to the list. There's a lovely breadth of styles on show swerving from silky, Detroit inspired goodness, wandering abstract workouts, intergalactic electro and intense, fast paced techno. It's so hard to pick favourites here, so I'm not going to bother. Just have a listen and see what I mean.

Will Lister – Phantom EP (Phonica Records)

Will Lister has just dropped his debut EP on the ever reliable Phonica and it's a beaut. Three tracks of warm, laid back house music with effortless swing and buckets of character. Drenched in reverb, the shuffling rhythms and bright lead lines are a breath of fresh air. This is a great debut, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from this guy in the future.
