8 Tracks: Of Album Inspiration With Dj Scm

A little while ago we featured the infamous DJ SCM as part of our 'shine a light on' mix series – safe to say he has continued to intrigue and delight ever since with consistent quality on his own Warm Tapes Adjustment imprint. At the tail end of this month the Berlin based producer is set to release a new mini album titled "Introducing Tony Pianola In Luce Artificiale". The release draws inspiration from the 80's pop era and blends italo influences alongside house, disco and dream like synths. This much is very clear indeed when you observe the pattern of production and the music which helped hone this sound as identified by DJ SCM himself…

Powerful disco track from the homonym maxi single released in the US in 1984 was one of the first record I bought long time ago. What I really love and I tried to draw inspiration are the congas that sounds amazing! That’s one of my fav, definitely always in my bag!

Uk production is in my opinion at the same time mysterious and addictive, synth line, percussions and their interaction in general with waves modulation… WOW!

Gianni Safred - The Life To Come

Extracted from the hard to find LP “Futuribile (The Life To Come)” is one of the best Italian Abstract Jazz-Funk of the last seventies, an example of how to use electronics instruments thru the most obscure way. This is the track that inspired the introspective “Luce Artificiale” (B2), specially the bassline..
Patrick Cowley - Cat's Eye

Impossible to not include the synthpop /NRG master Patrick Cowley. Some of the movements in this track were the point from where I started during the recordings in “Dream of Mezzanotte” This sounds to me like an immortal ritual.
