Art & Culture

Iconic Icelandic artist Björk is set to join the Sónar programme this year, opening the festival on 14th with an exclusive four hour DJ set at the Fira Montjuïc's SonarHall stage, where the audience will be treated to a sonic exploration of genres that have influenced the musician.

This year's event will also see an exclusive exhibition, "Björk Digital", an immersive, virtual reality experience that will take place at Barcelona's Centre for Contemporary Culture (CCCB) running from 13th June to 24th September. The interactive exhibition will combine cinema, performance and installation with audiovisual pieces. Some of Björk's works that she has created with Alexander McQueen, Spike Jonze and Jesse Kanda will also be on display.

Aside from this, the singer will be talking at the Sónar+D conference on the subject of her links to the world of audiovisual technology. The conference this year will focus on the advancements in Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality in the world of the arts.

The Björk DJ set requires a seperate ticket. See the Sónar website for more details.
