Sónar To Transmit Music To Outer Space Live From Barcelona

Art & Culture

The Catalan festival will celebrate its 25th edition in business by transmitting music into outer space across the course of the event. The broadcast will be routed towards the skies in attempt to send music to GJ 237b, a planet orbiting a star 12.4 light-years from Earth. This form of musical communication will be the first time that earth has attempted to reach out to a potentially habitable exoplanet. Artists involved in the project include Autechre, Nina Kraviz, Kerri Chandler and more. The operation is being run in partnership with the Institute for Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) and METI International.
