New Book ‘Rave On’ Covers The Story Of Contemporary Dance Culture

Art & Culture

January 2018 will see the publication of Matthew Collin's new book Rave On: Global Adventures in Electronic Dance Music, which promises to tell "the definitive story of dance culture today".

At the heart of the book is the question of whether the maverick spirit of dance music has been able to survive its own success. Three decades on from the second summer of love, Collin travels from the pleasure palaces of Ibiza and Las Vegas to the new frontiers of Shanghai and Dubai by way of hardcore DIY scenes in Europe, America and South Africa.

Publisher Serpent's Tail also published Collin's first book Altered State in 1997, which documents the rise of acid house and rave culture in Britain and has become something of a cult classic in the years since.

Rave On is published 11th January via Serpent's Tail. Pre-order it here.
