Danny Boyle Confirms Trainspotting 2 Is Happening

Dany Boyle has confirmed that Trainspotting 2 is looking increasingly likely to happen. Speaking to Deadline at the first public screening of his new biopic Steve Jobs, Boyle announced that not only is the script for the film finished, but that original Trainspotting cast members Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlisle, Johnny Lee Miller and Ewen Bremner are all keen to take part.

"All the four main actors want to come back and do it,” Boyle said, “Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series.”

The script for Trainspotting 2, which Boyle is describing (perhaps unsurprisingly) as 'terrific' is once again written by screenwriter John Hodge and based on Irvine Welsh's novel Porno, a book set a decade after the events seen in Trainspotting. This presents a slight time disconnect for the actors involved; the film version of Trainspotting was made some 20 years back. We're not quibbling though we just want to see this made…!
