The Hackney Volpone Or The Fox

Art & Culture

Here's something wonderful you don't read about every day – NYLon Projects retell a classic comedy about obsessive greed and a hoax which threatens to spin out of control, using a cast which combines professional actors and a cast of Hackney residents.

The Hackney Volpone, or The Fox, which runs from 24th July through to August 9th at the Mill Co. Rose Lipman Building (43 De Beauvoir Rd, London N1 5SQ), chooses to relocate the main action of the play to Hackney, of course. The play is threaded with timeless themes such as greed, arrogance and pride and is one of the first productions of the text that chooses to emphasize Jonson's links to east London. Few are aware of the fact that the seventeenth cenutry writer had many of his plays premiered in the Hoxton/Shoreditch area and even killed someone in a fight at an east end tavern!

We've got a few pairs of tickets to give away for the evening of your choice (subject to availability), to be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is email ciaran@theransomnote.co.uk with the subject line 'HACKNEYACTORS'.
