Doc House: Blackfish Preview

Next Thursday, 25th July, at the Lexi Cinema, DocHouse presents a special preview screening of the hugely anticipated Blackfish Documentary.
Blackfish is an emotionally wrenching story about Tilikum, the largest Orca in captivity and one of Sea Worlds most treasured killer whales, yet he is as notorious for his aggression as he is for his size. Despite killing experienced trainer Dawn Brancheau and two other people since 2010, as well as numerous other instances of acting out, Tilikum has been used to father more offspring than any of Sea Worlds other orcas.
Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite compiles shocking footage of Tilikum since his capture in 1983, exploring the creatures extraordinary nature, and the cruel treatment he and other whales receive in captivity. Blackfish reveals the sometimes devastating consequences of keeping such intelligent and sentient creatures in captivity, and the pressures brought to bear by the multi-billion dollar sea-park industry.
