Threatened Curzon Cinema In Soho Runs Petition And Makes Sweary Video Pastiche

Art & Culture

London's Curzon Soho Cinema on Shaftesbury Avenue is threatened with closure and demolition as part of the development plans for the proposed Crossrail 2 rail route, and is running an online petition to prevent that. Part of Soho's rich and eclectic history, it is viewed as another phase of the gentrification of the area renowned for it's artistic contribution and subsequent excesses. Support from celebrities and the ongoing Save Soho campaign are joined by a 38 Degrees petition and also a 'Curse For Curzon' video, where cinema colleagues, customers and others pay homage to some of the broadest quotes to make your ears burn from cinema history.

The Save Curzon Soho online petition is HERE. Midnight Movies presents a Save Curzon Soho screening of The Blues Brothers, plus party, on Friday 6 May. For details and tickets look HERE.
