Flatpack Film Festival Announces 10th Birthday In Birmingham

Flatpack Film Festival has moved on over the 10 years since it's inception as Digbeth pub film night. In 2015 it joined a partnership with the BFI to develop cinema and film in the West Midlands, and this year it celebrates a decade with a week of events across several Birmingham spaces, from The Electric Cinema to a huge mult-coloured inflatable. The full programme will be announced in March, but highlights include Optical Sound – a weekend of live soundtracks and contemporary scores to classics such as Murnau's 'Faust', and 'NG83', a music documentary on the 1980s break-dancing scene in Nottingham. There will also be a unique piece called 'Blind Cinema' by Belgian artist Britt Hatzius, where on entry guests are blindfolded by a group of schoolchildren, who then provide a whispered description of the action onscreen via ear-trumpets.
