comedy slices #24

Art & Culture
This week has brought snow, winds that blow your socks and a smatterings of sunshine. With potential snow threatening us this week is a filling yet cheap slice with nights for a fiver. Leaving you more quids to spend on warming whiskey should you be snowed in at the venue indefinitely…
Monday 18th – Making Faces presents Facelift – Bar Kick – 5

First up is a night presented by the Making Faces troupe Dan Curtis, Lizzie Kevan and Ed Mayhew at the venue renowned for the numerous football tables Bar Kick. On the line up are an impressive bunch of comedians including the multi-awarding Max & Ivan (mentioned in an a previous slice), the curiously named The Pin, McNeil & Pamphilon, Colin Hoult, Will Seaward, and of course Making Faces themselves. Did I mention that cake is included in the price of your ticket? With food as well as Entertainment provided you could survive being snowed in here happily. or until the cake runs out.
This rather unusual basis for a night comes at a very fortunate time. Jarred Christmas and Tom Davies host a game show to find out if you will be useful or a liability at the end of the world. So if you do find yourself stuck there then you have already eliminated throughout the night those in the audience that you should cling to like a whelk to a rock. And the weaklings that you should leave in the snow drift. Useful.
This night may not offer cake or a list of who you befriend in an apocalypse but it does have some killer comedians. The night is firstly hosted by Sara Pascoe (who may have seen her on Live At The Apollo) and Jessica Fostekew (funny women awards finalist 2010) . You know you are in safe hands for the night. Then for the  line up. The anticipation that it might not live up the hosts dispersed when you see that star of Mock the Week and Dave’s One Night Stand, Gary Delaney headlines. Joining him on the line up are Tez Ilyas, Harriet Kemsley and Paul Sweeney . And who won’t want to be snowed in with that bunch?
