Unheard Thelonious Monk Lp Set For Release

Music

Previously unheard Thelonious Monk recordings that were discovered a few years ago are set to be released for this year’s Record Store Day (22nd of April) in a special edition 2LP box set. The vinyl release will be accompanied by a 50 page booklet containing original artwork, essays and previously unpublished photographs.

‘Thelonious Monk: Les Liaisons Dangereuses 1960’ contains recordings from a set of master tapes recorded in 1959, in New York, during sessions recording the soundtrack to Roger Vadim’s film of the same name. The LP is to feature solo, trio and quartet versions of classic Monk tunes as well as works composed for the soundtrack.
