William Onyeabor, the Nigerian funk musician who found global appreciation after re-releases of his work in 2013 has passed away at the age of 70. Onyeabor self-released eight albums between 1977 and 1985 and then became a born-again Christian, refusing to ever speak about himself or his music again. His synth based music was featured across many compilations, including his biggest hit 'Better Change Your Mind', and it led the Luaka Bop record label to track him down and re-issue his work on the successful 'Who is William Onyeabor?'. Artists including David Byrne and Money Mark led a supergroup tour called the Atomic Bomb! Band which brought his music to new audiences across the world, as did the documentary 'Fantastic Man'.
