Insomnia Music with 2Shy

Music

Best known for his productions as one half of Indigo Aera and REKIDS affiliates Private Press, Warsaw's 2shy now makes his long awaited solo debut with Night Conclusion.

Getting a release on Polish producer Eltron's Dom Trojga imprint, a label pushing forward the stories and sounds of the Polish and Eastern European underground dance floors, the EP gives a nod to his influences in late 90s house and Polish underground hip hop and shows his adeptness at bringing an emotive touch and fine precision to his work.

Finding himself at his most productive during the nocturnal hours, he charts some of the tracks that soundtrack those fruitful late night sessions…

When I was younger, I used to drive back and forth between Poland and Germany with my father. We did this a lot, and mostly by night, listening to music the whole trip. It was so weird. I used to feel like a subtle line between sleep and reality was being broken. This childhood experience inspired me greatly. At least 93% of time I spend playing, making and digging music is always during the deep, late night.

Quarks - Kikyo (Pole Pop Mix)

Deep and mellow Japanese electronica. Probably the first vinyl record I ever bought. I still remember listening to this all night long, so excited that I have my very own 12”.

  • Wnb - Intro

A savage intro to one of the wildest old-school hip-hop records. Wychowani Na Bledach means “brought up on mistakes”, and this pretty much sums it up: hardcore experiences, rough life in Eastern Poland and faith in a better future. There is something magical in the album, especially this intro.

  • Wsp - Faktem Jest

This underground crew from Warsaw’s central-south district brings a truly exquisite atmospheric vibe. You can almost see Warsaw streets at night. This timeless classic is my favourite from this album.

  • Sanasol - Matrix Noise

Just wow… One of my favourite dub techno tracks ever. Somewhere between hi-tech reality and weird, cosmic dreams. Juicy chords, a smooth bassline and bright, melancholic pads make for a unique atmosphere. Highly recommended when alone after 3AM.

  • Lenni Gait's Melody Band - Embrace (Intangible)

Sexy, romantic deep house. To spend time with your favourite boy/girl… no more words.

  • Norman Connors - Butterfly Dreams

I think this record isn’t all that well known. That’s a big mistake. The ultimate mellow vibe, one of the records that used to help me fall asleep at the end of the road 🙂
