Influences: Younger Than Me

Music

Hailing from Milan, and now based in Berlin, DJ and production duo Younger Than Me's sets and releases are indebted to the rave scene of the 90s. These inspirations feed into much of their back catalogue which has seen them rack up EPs for imprints like Bordello A Parigi, Bar Records, Tusk Wax and XXX, as well as a string of remixes. If you've managed to catch the pair play before then you'll know their sets also embrace these sounds; driving, high energy and euphoric.

After recently supplying a 90s inspired remix for our R$N sub-label Insult To Injury, we invited them to reflect on the artists and tracks that continue to influence their productions…

Psychic Tv - Greyhounds Of The Future

Genesis P-Orridge is certainly one of the most figurative influences of our music, not only for the sound but for the ability to change genre and to go from COUM Transmissions to Throbbing Gristle, from Psychic TV to Thee Majest and Pigface. He tried to explore everything that was inspired at that time. This track is a masterpiece <3

  • Underworld - Dark And Long (Dark Train)

We think that Underworld are the perfect melting pot from the worlds of bands and DJs. Underworld have changed the concept of dance music, they have marked the generational shift from the scene of the 80s to that of modern underground clubs. This is one of the best techno trance tracks ever.

  • Pj - Elysian Fields

We are most influenced by 90s stuff as you might know and this track shows you why; acid, trance, progressive and house blended into a super gem!

  • Nitzer Ebb - Murderous

Here’s our EBM/dark influences; in all our sets and sometimes also in our own productions you can hear this more dark and heavy vibe! Nitzer Ebb, but even more like “Combichrist ” and others influence our sound for sure.

  • Mem Pamal - Drugs Like Me

In Italy when we were young ravers there was this illegal squat rave party scene: Spiral Tribe, Ixindamix, Teknambul, Mem Pamal, Okupe, Kernel Panik, Mat Weasel Busters and more. We raved hard in that period and we are most influenced by that!
