Music

Naduve is the latest in a series of artists to emerge from Tel Aviv. Non surprisingly he has found himself at home amidst the Disco Halal crowd who have just released his latest EP titled 'The Race For A Handshake'. Full of character and energy the release sees him dabble in cosmic centred synths and bubbly percussion. Tel Aviv continues to excite and inspire, as a new generation of artists evolve onto the modern day electronic scene. Motivated by their heritage and rooted in culture their take on traditional dance music varies widely to those from elsewhere. The result is incredibly exciting. We caught up with Naduve to talk influences…

Le Temps Retrouvé - Raoul Ruiz -Sonate De Vinteuil- Proust

Last time I got a gift card as a present for the holidays I went to one of these commercial bookstores and got myself a real classic I wanted to read for years now. Since then I’m sunk into Proust’s world. This book truly inspires me, mostly in the way Proust is able to describe the most fragile feelings, thoughts and memories while touching a familiar place in me. The video is a movie scene showing a piece which has a big part in a love story between two of the main characters.

  • Jodorowsky's Dune Movie Clip - Orson Welles (2014) - Documentary Hd

This movie deals with an issue I’m trying to solve frequently in my own life. The way my works are being formed and executed and my aspirations. Jodorowsky, for anyone who watched “The Holy Mountain” is a genius, and to see how devoted he was for this crazy project makes me think about my work ethics.

  • Minimal Compact - My Will (1985)

One of the local heros here, Berry Sakharof, An amazing musician and writer which is part of the “mainstream” was part of this band. As a young music enthusiasts we discovered his former life with the CD compilations that included some music from them. They are still as real as it gets, and sound great when they perform, now and then. A very good example of the tension between east and west cultures in Israel.

  • Isao Tomita - Symphony No. 5 In B Flat Major

This kind of Synth music of part of my sonic realm as a child. These sounds were everywhere, in Television promos, radio skits and so on. Now I know that these artist used BIG synths, and one of my dreams is to get a Roland System 100 one day. This one was the music for a news program and I remember being horrified by it.

  • Boards Of Canada Everything You Do Is A Balloon

For the connection between memories and feelings, this is a great example. BOC were always there to support all sorts of hallucinations, therefore this music can bring me to tears instantly. Everything here is inspiring: The sound, melodies, compositions and even the scales.
