8 Tracks: To Drink A Negroni To With Secretsundaze

Music

There is little left to be said about London's dynamic duo which has not already been discussed. The party purveyors turned record label bosses have become two of the most respected disc jockeys on the circuit and have taken their aspirational parties far beyond the reaches of the city walls. Secretsundaze is now an institution of sorts, last year saw them celebrate fifteen years in the business and the team of Giles Smith and James Priestley seems to be going stronger than ever. The label has just released its first retrospective compilation, "Dance 2017", which features an assortment of music from the likes of Fred P, Shanti Celeste, Endian, Amir Alexander and many more.

We caught up with Giles and James to talk "music for accompanying cocktails"

Paris - I Choose You

Absolute heart melter. One of the most elegant and beautiful tracks we have laid ears upon. Puts modern R&B to shame!

  • Paris - I Choose You

Absolute heart melter. One of the most elegant and beautiful tracks we have laid ears upon. Puts modern R&B to shame!

  • Angela Bofill Under The Moon And Over The Sky

What more could you ask for while you sip your negroni – Incredible, otherworldly and exotic.

  • Linda Di Franco - Tv Scene (Extended 12 Version)

Couldn’t think of a more fitting soundtrack to your Thursday night apperitivo in one of the tiny bars in Porto Ecole, Monte Argentario, this is Negroni through and through. For fans of Sade and sax solos alike.

  • Nu Guinea - The Birds Rejoice (2016)

We love Nu Guinea and what the Early Sounds crew are putting out. Classy, laid back and plenty of funk.

  • Wham! - Blue (Armed With Love)

The lesser-known flipside to ‘Club Tropicana’ but up there with our favourite Wham jams.

  • Mau Vs Black Sabbath - Clanet Paravan (Mau's Balearic Remix)

Another heavily Balearic sounding record largely down to the fantastic re-edit from Magnus Ostergen aka Mau on the first of the appropriately titled ‘Rimini’ re-edit series.

  • Lindstrom - Arp She Said

Hans-Peter Lindstrom soundtracked many a Secretsundaze Sunday afternoon back in the day, way before Negroni’s became cool. This is one of his finest moments, superbly cosmic.

  • Lonnie Liston Smith - Floating Through Space

Warm, hazy and lush. You’ll be horizontal by the time this finishes.
